Trip to Sogampros
Perhaps the most extraordinary Greek restaurant "Sogambros" can be found in the mountains of Holomondas in Halkidiki.
The now well known beyond the borders of Greece owner Harilaos (the Sogambros), his wife and his bouzouki-playing son Christos lead this distinctive forest restaurant since its opening.
Many hikers visit the Holomondas mountains almost exclusively to meet him and his family. If you read the guest book of Harilaos Sonis (the Sogambros), you can see that many, many people have visited him from all over the world. His mother-in-law chops have already been eaten by all ages.
One km outside the village Taxiarchis you can not only enjoy fresh roast wild pork at Sogambros, but also get to know a different kind of catering. The Sogambros, who serves the arriving guests freshly roasted in a police uniform, or his son, Christos, who simply grabs the guitar and starts playing and while they are already at lunch drink Ouzo and dance Sirtaki.
Try the homemade souvlaki with "real" fries from real potatoes, which the wife of Sogambros peals in a corner of the restaurant straight when you pass. Everything is being grilled on coal. An absolute "must" is the Athos wine, offered by the Sogambros as "the Viagra in liquid form".
